CYCU Net Zero Declaration
CUCU know that universities must bear the mission and liability to cultivate future global citizens, and must be responsible for the education and practicing of environmental sustainability. For the time being, CYCU has set 2022 as the benchmark year for promotion of environmental sustainability, to establish the target of practicing sustainability and set forth the campus sustainability roadmap and vision. Including:

Create basic information about a sustainable campus through campus exploration and examination.

Consolidate the faculty's consensus on environmental sustainability on campus.

Promote the philosophy and operation of a sustainable cycle on campus to faculty, staff, and students.

Set forth effective strategies to promote the sustainable environment physically.

Set forth the roadmap for promotion of net zero emissions in 2049.

Combine the holistic educational philosophy to practice environmental education.

In response to CYCU’s consideration of development under the four principles, of sustainability, ecology, energy conservation and health, CYCU has conducted a school-wide survey on the building environment and campus ecology, and a comprehensive review on the entire environmental relationship between the campus and community. It has re-defined the Space, Elements and Activities on campus as a reference for CYCU’s campus sustainability program and an extension of CYCU campus characteristics. CYCU has realized that as a member of the global village, CYCU must use its best effort to reduce GHG from the three aspects of environment, society, and economy, and has set forth specific strategies and actions to promote sustainable university governance to respond to the government’s declaration and to achieve the net zero emissions target in 2049 progressively year by year. The following chart refers to CYCU’s integrated sustainability program schedule. CYCU plans to establish its carbon emissions and reduction calculation indicators and criteria, and check and calculate CYCU’s annual carbon emissions and reduction starting in 2022. Meanwhile, it will set forth annual net zero campus plans, personnel training and educational empowerment based on the check results in 2023 to reduce carbon emissions by 50% in 2030 and achieve the net zero campus target in 2049 progressively year by year.
