Friendly Campus

Gender Equality Campus

    The campus advocates gender equality education to build an environment in which both sexes may enjoy personal basic human rights and learn and grow free from discrimination and restrictions posed by traditional gender roles, so that each person may exercise his/her potential to achieve sufficient personal development and establish a harmonious and respectful relationship between both sexes. To implement gender equality education, CYCU promotes gender equality education in accordance with the government’s gender equality laws and regulations, and also establishes the CYCU Regulations Governing Establishment of Gender Equality Education Committee, Gender Equality Education Implementation Regulations, Regulations Governing Rewards for Promotion of Gender Equality Education, and Implementation Directions for Prevention and Resolutions of Sexual Assault, Sexual Harassment, and Sexual Bullying on Campus.

I.    Gender Equality Meeting
    CYCU will convene gender equality education meetings at least once per semester. From 2019 to 2021, CYCU convened 10 gender equality education meetings to resolve 15 campus gender incidents.

II.   Campus Ground Safety Inspection Presentation
    According to the Regulations on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Assault, Sexual Harassment, or Sexual Bullying on Campus, CYCU shall convene campus ground safety inspection presentations periodically, and invite professional space designers, faculty and students, and other campus users to attend the meeting. From 2019 to 2021, CYCU convened campus ground safety inspection presentations three times and invited a total of 355 professional space designers, faculty, and students to attend to discuss how to make the campus space more friendly.

Students’ Life and Learning Counseling

    In the spirit of holistic education and caring for life, CYCU deeply believes that “love” is the main force to drive education, and adheres to the education philosophy claiming full exercise of personal potential leading to success. CYCU has been engaged in counseling services and won the “Excellent University for Counseling Service” award many times.

    To enable students suffering family misfortune due to COVID-19 to study without worry, CYCU adopts the “Learning Incentive Implementation Project for Students Suffering From Family Misfortune Due to COVID-19” to grant NT$10,000 per month.

(c) Prevention of Students’ Drug Abuse
     To prevent drugs from entering the campus, CYCU recruits anti-drug volunteers, and

     plans diversified promotional activities and concrete preventive actions to build an anti-

     drug clean campus, thus achieving the goal of “zero drugs on campus.”

II.   Increase Care and Counseling for Foreign Students
    To enable foreign students to adapt themselves to the environment in Taiwan, CYCU establishes relationships and support systems with foreign student groups, organizes diversified activities to help foreign students find friends, and mitigates their homesickness and life pressure.

IV.  Build High-quality Dormitory Life
    CYCU upholds the philosophy of pursuing the creation of living safety and life care for dormitory students, and has dormitory students, the Dormitory Service Committee, and Off-Campus Lease Services Club work together to promote dormitory character activities and off-campus life visit care, to cultivate students’ independence and self-governance ability.

V.   Counseling and Care for Students With Physical and Mental Disabilities
    To build a friendly and accessible environment of interpersonal exchange, CYCU established the Center for Students With Special Needs in academic 2017 to organize various theme-based and group counseling activities, facilitate students with physical and mental disabilities to interact with others, and implements a “zero-rejection and accessible” campus environment.

VI.  Improve Care and Counseling for Indigenous Students    CYCU’s indigenous students are engaged in promoting the “Indigenous Peoples’ Empowerment Tribe Regeneration Project”, and adopt the following mechanism to improve the operation of the Indigenous Students Resource Center:(a) Site expansion and improved operating mechanism.(b) Curriculum innovation and cultural integration.(c) Care, counseling, and economic assistance.(d) Promote indigenous peoples’ cultures and respect integration.

VII.  Adaptive learning counseling to ensure students’ success in learning.
    To ensure that students may learn based on their interests, CYCU leads colleges/universities throughout the nation in terms of students’ learning guidance and promotes the “adaptive department transfer system”. For students’ who falls behind others, CYCU plans a three-level counseling mechanism, adopts the “individualized” and “adaptive” learning guidance practices to help the students verify their learning motives and causes of their poor grades, and proposes improvement strategies.

 

(1)  Adaptive Department Transfer System
CYCU takes the initiative among colleges/universities throughout the nation to establish an adaptive department transfer system which is not based on students’ academic achievement, values and respects the students’ right to apply for department transfer and selection of department, and hopes to facilitate and guide students to learn and develop correctly and adaptively to exercise their potential to find their future.

    In consideration of the good results generated by the adaptive department transfer system, students’ interest in learning is improved and CYCU students’ attendance rate is also increased. CYCU promotes Adaptive Learning 2.0 proactively to escape the traditional arrangement and establish student-specific curriculum modules. It promotes the “Spring Academy Learning Counseling Mechanism” to provide students with individualized learning and course maps and sets up academic advisors to guide teachers to transform from wise men who teach to promoters of active learning.

Career Counseling

    Career counseling focuses on development guidance which is adaptive and is a suitable place to plan a series of career counseling exploration activities and measures to help freshmen launch their career program from the first day they are enrolled in the school.

(1)  UCAN Functional Platform Implementation Training Activities: The results are provided

       to teachers as a reference for students’ counseling.
(2)  Robust Career Development Counseling
(3)  Career Consultation:
Built a full-function “Spring Education-Job Match Zone”, works with

       the Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli Regional Branch, Workforce Development Agency of the

       Ministry of Labor, and recruits career consultants and professionals from industries to

       provide on-site career consultation services. 
(4)  Built the “Career Dream” Platform:
Integrates diversified functional training to build a

       career counseling resources sharing platform.

Humane Care for Animals

    In the spirit of holistic education and caring for life, CYCU advocates the humane treatment of all creatures in the face of “not my race,” in order to practice a campus environment pursuing “Holistic, Truth, Kindness, and Beauty - True Love for Life, Charitable Campus and Beauty at CYCU”. 


I.   True Love for Life Program
    Teachers and students formed an animal protection club voluntarily, hoping to exercise more influence to help homeless animals and inspire human beings to do good deeds, and care of homeless cats and dogs. CYCU adopts the following responsive strategies to deal with the problem of homeless animals:

(I)   Convene a campus conference for students and teachers to work out the way to treat

      homeless animals on campus.
(II)  Verify the status of cats and dogs on campus and seek solutions acceptable by both

      students and teachers.
(III) Establish a campus responsibility taskforce to co-adopt the animals and take care of

      them.

II.  Students organized an animal service club to communicate the philosophy of caring for animals.
    The animal service club guided by CYCU consists of student volunteers and is engaged in promotion, hoping to educate the public to respect life and care for the disadvantaged.
