Technology Transfers and Patents

Technology Transfer 

    CYCU boosts the protection and promotion of R&D results proactively and applies the R&D results to satisfy industry needs, exercises the value of intellectual property fully, and supports industrial technology upgrading and commercialization of academic and research technologies. Meanwhile, it has amended its related regulations step by step to encourage teachers and students to connect with industries and engage in research collaboration, technology licensing/transfer, and entrepreneurship.


    Out of the intents to help enterprises practice sustainable development, CYCU participates in the innovation of the green economy. From 2019 to 2021, it has entered into a technology licensing/transfer agreement for “environmental protection, energy, recycling, and green production” to transplant its technology in industry to promote a sustainable environmental and industrial development.

Patents

    CYCU encourages teachers and students to protect intellectual property rights, and adopts the following practices of patent applications:
(a) Organize education and training to root teachers’ and students’ awareness toward intellectual property protection thoroughly.
(b) Promote R&D results generated by teachers and students, organize technology exchange activities proactively, participate in invention exhibitions and technology exhibitions, and encourage teams consisting of teachers and students to participate in domestic and foreign competitions.

    Through hears of hard, CYCU has been granted a total of 156 patents, at home and abroad, from 2019 to 2021. Meanwhile, teams have won three gold medals, five silver medals, and four bronze medals at the “Seoul International Invention Fair 2021”. Students also participated in each patent prosecution to truly implement “knowledge-action Integration”.


    In response to the United Nations’ SDGs, to help enterprises deal with three aspects including economic growth, social progress, and environmental protection concurrently, and accelerate industrial transformation and upgrading, CYCU has worked with multiple schools including Chang Gung University to organize the cross-campus technology matching sharing meeting on “impact and innovation of green energy and sustainable development in industry” to share opinions with manufacturers on the green energy issue.
